Build your own Gang Sheet

Direct to Film (DTF) is an advanced garment printing method that allows full-color designs to be transferred onto a wide variety of fabrics with precision and durability. Unlike traditional printing techniques, DTF does not require pre-treatment of garments and offers exceptional versatility across fabric types, making it a preferred solution for both short-run and large-scale production.

How the DTF Process Works:
Design CreationThe artwork is prepared using professional graphic design software, allowing for high-resolution, full-color imagery with fine detail.

Printing on Film :
The design is printed in reverse onto a clear PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film using specialized DTF inks. White ink is applied as a base layer to ensure color vibrancy, especially on dark fabrics.

Adhesive Application:
A finely milled, thermally activated adhesive powder is applied to the printed film while the ink is still wet.
Curing the Adhesive:
The film is passed through a curing unit or placed under a heat source to bond the adhesive to the ink. This step prepares the design for transfer.

Heat Transfer to Fabric:
The cured film is placed onto the garment and pressed with a heat press at a controlled temperature and pressure (typically around 300–320°F for 15–20 seconds).

Peeling & Finishing:
Once cooled slightly, the film is peeled away, leaving a high-quality, vibrant design adhered to the fabric. A final press may be applied for added durability and finish.

Benefits of DTF Printing: *Compatible with a wide range of materials including cotton, polyester, nylon, blends, and more *High-resolution, full-color prints with excellent detail and color vibrancy *Durable and long-lasting, with superior stretch and wash resistance *No weeding or vinyl cutting required, simplifying the production process *Ideal for on-demand, custom, and short-run printing jobs

Applications:
*DTF printing is widely used for
*Custom apparel and uniforms *Promotional merchandise *Fashion and streetwear *Sportswear and team apparel

Direct to Film (DTF) gang sheets offer an efficient and cost-effective way to print multiple designs on a single transfer sheet. Whether you're managing custom jobs or producing high-volume prints, organizing artwork into a gang sheet maximizes material use and streamlines the production process.

What is a Gang Sheet?
A gang sheet is a large-format layout containing multiple designs arranged together for batch printing. This method is ideal for small logos, personalized items, and bulk order fulfillment, allowing you to consolidate several graphics onto one transfer sheet.

Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Gang Sheet

1. Determine Your Sheet Size
Start by selecting the transfer sheet size your printer supports. Common DTF roll widths include 13 inches, with lengths ranging from 24 inches to 360 inches, depending on your print setup.

2. Prepare Your Designs
Use high-resolution artwork (300 DPI recommended) Save files in PNG format with a transparent background Ensure colors are accurate using a CMYK color profile

3. Layout Your Artwork
Use professional design software such as: Adobe IllustratorPhotoshop CorelDRAW Online gang sheet builders provided by DTF vendors

When arranging your designs: Minimize spacing between graphics to reduce waste Group similar designs or customer orders logically Mirror images if your RIP software does not handle it automatically

4. Export Your File
Once your layout is complete: Export as a PDF, TIFF, or PNG Maintain original resolution and color profile Include crop marks or guidelines if needed for cutting

5. Best Practices
Include a bleed margin (typically 0.25") if trimming manually Save templates for recurring orders or clients Organize files for easy retrieval and production tracking Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Gang Sheet 1. Direct to Film (DTF) Transfer Application Guidelines

Ensure optimal results by following the recommended application process for DTF transfers. These instructions are designed to provide excellent adhesion, vibrant color, and a smooth, professional finish.

Recommended Heat Press Settings
*Temperature: 160°C (320°F)Time: *10–15 seconds
*Pressure: Medium

Peel Method
This transfer is compatible with both hot peel and cold peel techniques. Choose the method that suits your workflow and desired finish.

Application Process
*Position the transfer
Place the DTF transfer onto the garment with the printed side facing up, ensuring proper alignment.
*Initial heat press
Apply heat at 160°C (320°F) for10  to 15 seconds using medium pressure.
*Peel the film
Carefully peel the film while hot or allow it to cool before peeling, depending on your preferred method.
*Post-press (optional)
For a softer hand feel and added durability, perform a final press at 137°C (280°F) for 5 seconds using medium pressure.

For best results, always test on a sample garment before full production. Proper storage and handling of transfer films also help maintain quality and performance.
